Prompt Guard ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our browser extension handles your information.

Our core principle is simple: your data stays on your device. Prompt Guard is designed as a privacy-first tool that performs all sensitive data detection locally in your browser, without sending any data to external servers.

Prompt Guard does NOT collect, transmit, or store:

• Your prompts or messages to AI assistants
• Sensitive data detected by our extension (API keys, passwords, PII)
• Your browsing history or website activity
• Personal information like your name, email, or location
• Device fingerprints or unique identifiers
• Analytics or telemetry data
• Cookies or tracking pixels

When you use Prompt Guard on supported AI platforms:

1. Content Script Injection: Our extension injects a content script into supported AI platform pages to monitor input fields.
2. Local Analysis: As you type, the extension analyzes your text using pattern matching and entropy analysis — all within your browser.
3. User Notification: If sensitive data is detected, you're shown a warning popup with options to redact, edit, or proceed.
4. Local Storage: Your settings and statistics are stored locally in your browser using the Chrome Storage API.

At no point does any data leave your device for the core detection functionality.

If you choose to subscribe to Prompt Guard Pro, we collect minimal information necessary to manage your subscription:

• Email Address: Used for passwordless authentication (magic link login) and subscription management.
• Subscription Status: Whether you have an active Pro subscription.

Payment processing is handled by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your credit card information or billing details.

Important: Even with a Pro subscription, your prompts and detected sensitive data are never sent to our servers. Only authentication and subscription status are communicated.

We use the following third-party services for Pro subscriptions only:

• Payment Provider: Processes payments for Pro subscriptions. They may collect payment information according to their privacy policy.
• Email Service: Sends magic link authentication emails. Only your email address is shared.

These services are only used when you explicitly sign up for a Pro account. Free users have no interaction with any third-party services.

Prompt Guard stores the following data locally in your browser:

• Settings: Your detection preferences and configuration options.
• Statistics: Aggregate counts of scans and detections for the dashboard (no actual content is stored).
• Authentication Token: If logged into Pro, a session token is stored locally.

You can clear all local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's extension storage.

You have the right to:

• Access: Request access to any data we hold about you (for Pro subscribers, this is limited to your email and subscription status).
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Portability: Export your settings from the extension.
• Opt-out: Stop using the extension at any time by uninstalling it.

For GDPR and CCPA compliance, we maintain minimal data collection practices. Since we don't collect most personal data, there's minimal data subject to these regulations.
