Terms of Service

By installing, accessing, or using the Prompt Guard browser extension ("Extension") or any related services ("Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Prompt Guard ("we," "us," or "our").

Prompt Guard is a browser extension that detects potentially sensitive information in text you enter into AI assistant platforms. The Extension:

• Scans text input for patterns matching sensitive data types
• Alerts you before submitting prompts containing detected items
• Offers options to redact, edit, or proceed with your submission
• Operates entirely locally within your browser

Important: Prompt Guard is a tool to assist you in identifying potentially sensitive data. It is not a guarantee of complete data protection. You are ultimately responsible for reviewing and deciding what information to share with AI services.

Prompt Guard is proprietary software. All rights, title, and interest in and to the Extension, including all intellectual property rights, are and will remain the exclusive property of Prompt Guard and its licensors.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• Install and use the Extension for personal or business purposes
• Use the Extension on multiple devices you own or control

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the Extension or its source code
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
• Sublicense, rent, lease, or lend the Extension to third parties
• Use the Extension to create a competing product or service

Billing

• Pro subscriptions are billed monthly
• Payment is processed through our third-party payment provider
• Prices are listed on our Pricing page and may change with notice
• All fees are non-refundable except as described below

Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time
• Access to Pro features continues until the end of your billing period
• No partial refunds for unused portions of the billing period
• After cancellation, you revert to the Free plan

Refunds

• We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers
• Contact support@promptguard.dev within 30 days of your first payment
• Refunds are processed to the original payment method

By using Prompt Guard, you agree to:

• Review Detected Items: Always review items flagged by the Extension before deciding to redact or send.
• Understand Limitations: Recognize that no detection system is perfect. The Extension may miss some sensitive data or flag false positives.
• Use Responsibly: Use the Extension in compliance with applicable laws and the terms of service of AI platforms.
• Secure Your Account: For Pro users, maintain the security of your account credentials.

You may not use Prompt Guard to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Circumvent or disable security features of AI platforms
• Attempt to reverse engineer the Extension
• Distribute modified or unauthorized versions of the Extension
• Use the Extension to harvest or collect sensitive data from others
• Interfere with or disrupt the Extension or its services

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Extension will detect all sensitive data
• The Extension will be error-free or uninterrupted
• Defects will be corrected in a timely manner
• The Extension will be compatible with all browsers or platforms

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PROMPT GUARD, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION.

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Extension shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Displaying a notice in the Extension for significant changes
• Sending an email notification for Pro subscribers (for major changes)

Your continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Extension immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Extension will immediately cease. If you are a Pro subscriber, no refunds will be provided for termination due to Terms violations.
